Field trips are used to introduce students to new places and ideas and to encourage hands-on learning. Annual traditions include the pumpkin patch for J-K and Kindergarten, skiing at Hidden Valley for Fifth and Sixth Grades, the annual Sixth Grade camp, and theatrical presentations at Florissant Civic Center for many of the grades. In addition to exposing students to new and interesting experiences, field trips are designed to expand students understanding of the curriculum. For example, students explore art through visits to the St. Louis Art Museum, experience living history at the Faust Park historical village, and practice map-making activities on the Second Grades annual walking tour of Kirkwood. |
