One of the goals of CCS is to help parents teach children to look beyond themselves and be other-centered. Each year, CCS sponsors a Thanksgiving collection for a charity or ministry. In recent years students have collected canned goods for food pantries, and diapers, clothing and other baby supplies for charities that support needy children and young mothers. Students in the upper school also participate in a Thanksgiving class service project, such as cooking a meal and delivering it to a local homeless shelter.
CCS students participate in weekly recycling efforts, support various additional classroom projects at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and collect needed items for other ministries throughout the year.
 Service and leadership within the School is also a focus for students, in all grades. Third through and Sixth Graders are encouraged to act as role models and helpers for younger students in our Buddies Program. Big buddies enjoy lunch and recess together each Wednesday, read together weekly, and also plan service projects and interdisciplinary learning times together. Our school climate also fosters relationships and community through our family-style lunches and monthly international menus.
CCS also encourages students to look beyond our local community and see the need in other countries. Josh Crane, our Head of School, has visited Hungary to present CCS curriculum as a model for Christian schools there. We regularly sponsor conferences on parenting and other educational issues for the school and community at large. Various classes are paired with acting foreign missionaries sponsored by Central Presbyterian Church to become "pen pals." This program shows students how God is faithful in supplying the financial and other needs of missionaries and helps children develop compassionate concern for people who do not know Jesus Christ.
