CCS has a strong commitment to help each individual student reach his or her own God-given potential. To meet that need, CCS has provided what we call "The Learning Center" (or "TLC"). Through TLC, CCS provides a program in which children with mild learning disabilities are evaluated and receive the necessary interventions to succeed in the classroom. TLC has a learning disability specialist working with students. A speech and language therapist is also available. The program for learning disabled students is designed to work with students one on one or in a small group in the areas of their learning disability, to provide modified testing opportunities, and to provide teachers with modification techniques to be used in the classroom.
The Learning Center also has a gifted program, to meet the special learning needs of students identified as academically gifted. The gifted program allows students to "compact," or shorten, the repetitive learning time for the classroom work that these students have already mastered, and lets them go to a separate classroom to be challenged and encouraged in their areas of strength.
Specific guidelines for admittance to TLC can be further discussed with the Director of Admissions.
