Technology Integration Specialist

Central Christian School is looking for a knowledgeable, flexible and personable technologist who can combine help desk skills with demonstrated teaching ability of children.  Additionally, the Technology Integration Specialist will work with administrators and teachers to integrate classroom technology into the School’s vibrant curriculum.  The three responsibilities are listed in more detail below.

Help Desk

Help Desk support will comprise of troubleshooting teacher laptops, classroom computers and office computers.  Providing proactive maintenance on computers and servers (software upgrades, antivirus updates, etc) will be equally as important as providing the normal reactive maintenance associated with troubleshooting.

Teaching Responsibilities

Teaching of students will include weekly basic keyboarding classes for grades 1-6th along with introduction to document creation (Word/Pages, Excel/Numbers, PowerPoint/Key Note) and other aspects of Apple computing so that children who may not have Apple’s at home may become rapidly familiar with the platform.

Technology Integration with Classroom Teachers

Technology integration with classroom teachers will involve working with CCS teachers to help amplify learning through the creation of digital projects, utilization of digital media, and recommendation of digital resources.  Ideally, the Technology Integration Specialist will train teachers to become self-sufficient in this area and will eventually take on more of a facilitator role as teachers become more and more practiced and proficient in technology usage.

Research will also be an important component of the technology integration specialists’ job as he/she will need to stay abreast of recent technology trends in education and advise administration of possible purchases to improve learning in CCS classrooms.

CCS’s technical environment includes:
  • 25 MacBooks for teachers
  • 25 IMacs distributed in our 5th and 6th grade classrooms for classroom computing
  • 20 computers in the computer lab for grades k-4. 
  • 5 PC’s for office use and to facilitate our information management system Blackbaud
  • 15 Promethean Boards one in each classroom 1st-6th + Specialty Classes (Art, Music, Spanish)
  • 1 Mac Server (handling primarily student accounts/student data)
  • 2 Dell Servers (handling file server and Information Systems Management software Blackbaud)
The ideal candidate will:
  • possess an advanced degree (B.A./B.S. equivalent)
  • have 3-5 years of experience working in an educational environment with technology
  • possess cross platform training (Apple/PC) and/or experience
  • possess a demonstrated rapport with children.
  • be patient in dealing with those who are not as adept with technology
  • have experience with interactive white boards (particularly Promethean Boards)
